Thursday was a little more subdued; unless you don't consider a trip to the gun range and firing off some rounds into a piece of paper relaxing! There was one guy there using paper plates with little red dots on them as targets. He was telling me that he hadn't shot his gun in over a year and his accuracy was way off. I watched him fire a handful of rounds into the paper plate and thought to myself "if that guy's accuracy is way off, then I don't know what I'm aiming at!" I'd be lucky if I could group my shots to the size of a paper plate! Afterward, Mister and I decided to hit the bowling alley, since we haven't done real bowling in a long time. When we got there, I learned what the senior citizens of Peachtree City do to keep themselves occupied during the week - there wasn't a single lane open! Each and every lane had teams of people over 40 bowling their little hearts out!
On Friday, Mister and I decided to adventure out of the house and visit Callaway Gardens. Every since our trip to the Tennessee Aquarium's butterfly house, I've been wanting to see the Gardens'. This trip also marked my first meal at a Wa-ho (i.e. Waffle House for those who don't know); I consider myself more of an IHOP girl, but in a pinch, I think I could do Wa-Ho again. Once there, we started with the botanical gardens at the Sibley Center. There were flowers and plants of all different shapes, sizes, and colors as well as creatures and animals too!
After the beautiful flowers, we drove the long and winding forest road to the Butterfly Center, where there were more colors! This time they were flying around us like an aerial ballet. When we first walked in I saw a huge spider way above the door had caught a spider in its web. Unfortunately, it was too fuzzy to make out on my camera; and by the time we came back the butterfly had (fortunately!) escaped.
I also got to see Mister at his best. He seems so natural and relaxed with a camera in his hands. We tried our hands at fishing too, but no luck.

Sunday happened to be one of the best day of the stay-cation. Yeah I know, I skipped Saturday, but that was a real lazy day for Mister and I; we decided to follow the "stay" in "stay-cation"; we didn't really do anything or go anywhere. Anyways, Sunday we took another trip down south to see The Great Georgia Air Show at Falcon Field.
After such a wonderful weekend, Monday came, and so ended the Great Stay-cation of 2009. I hope this post has inspired people in the blogosphere to look closer to home the next time they have vacation time.
On a separate more artistic note, yesterday I finally got back to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens; this time I brought my spiffy paint box with me! At first I thought the subject I chose to paint was going to be a real challenge, but I think I did a pretty good job!

Recently, I finished my second "box project," too. This time, I used fabric instead of ribbon and created a Spring scene. Ironic since Fall has arrived here with a vengeance. We haven't seen the sun in three days and we may have a freeze warning Sunday and Monday mornings! The trees and flowers were each individually cut and glued together. I used the same weaving pattern for the lid, using the light green, dark green, and brown to make seem like you are looking down into the top of the tree.

Hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned, another post is sure to come!
